Season starts with a win for BPCC Seconds

BPCC Seconds started the season with a comfortable win againt Welton and Brough. In bitterly cold conditions Jon Anderson was rampant and supported by Tom Rossington they reduced the visitors to 28 for 8 before a late recovery saw them through to 77 all out with Jon finishing with six wickets. Some fine catching supported the bowlers and the home side enjoyed a most superb tea.

The visitors made Percy work hard for the victory though with Giles Anderson, Jon Anderson, Captain Ed and Ben Hepworth falling cheaply. Alistair Booth sold his wicket dearly though and almost saw the team home before leaving it to Mike Furze to steady the ship and new club member Dinuk Mirando to close out the game with some classy looking shots.

A first class start to the season.

Match Ball Sponsorship

Ball Sponsorship
At this stage immediately before the season gets underway we ask for members and friends to sponsor a match ball of one of the Saturday league matches.
The cost is £25 – although larger offers are welcome. In return for your sponsorship the club will be forever grateful and your generosity will be recognised in the clubhouse.
Please contact Bill Preacher on 07703129987 or bpreacher@aol.com to arrange the match you wish to sponsor.

Practice Moves Outdoors

As the days get longer and and a tiny bit warmer from this weekend (14th Apr) junior practice has moved outside.
All boys and girls of all ages will, at least for the first few weeks, practise on Sunday afternoon/evening with Under 9’s / 11’s 16.00-18.00 and Under 13’s / 15’s 18.00-20.00.

It will be good to see you all down at the ground, especially those who have not attended indoor nets.
All practice is important, especially so as we all have a challenging season ahead.

For parents – the bar, and tea and coffee will be available.

Message for SENIORS – seniors nets will start next Tuesday – 16 April – from 18.30 and as we have more juniors than ever it would be good to see a few helping with the juniors on Sunday.

Ground Days

Good news. It is forecast to be sunny tomorrrow and Sunday. In the spirit of health and safety the club will provide free suntan lotion to all those attending the working parties over this weekend.

The main aims for this weekend are to paint the pav inside, get rid of the urinal in the away showers, smooth out the net run ups, clean the loos and showers and to reassmble the covers.

So when you come down at 10 tomorrow it would be helful if you came armed with rubber gloves, buckets, brushes, rollers, roller trays, shovels, and a bit of brute force.

Players Meeting 7th April

Apologies for the late notice. I thought that I sent an email about this weeks ago but apparently not.

Tom and Ed want to get as many of the senior players together after nets (8.30 pm) this Sunday at the Lord Nelson in Poppleton to discuss various topics in connection with the new season.

Please try and get down, even in the unlikely event that you can’t make nets.
