Honours this weekend to the First Eleven who took maximum points again and will sit proudly at the top of league 2 tonight. Welton and Brough batted first and failed to make good use of the wicket as they collapsed after a steady start at the hands of Jacob Green with 5 – 17 mustering only 96. A simple enough target made difficult by Percy’s early batsmen. Acting captain Danny White was rather unimpressed by his batting colleagues performance and, at 5 wickets down, decided enough was enough striking 26 off 10 balls and that was that. Well done and a good start for the Firsts.
The Second Eleven were disappointing at Heworth throwing away an excellent position at 83-3 off 25 overs collapsing timidly to 120 all out. Only James Hodge with 24 and Giles Anderson with an impressive 21 showed any mettle as too many players gave their wickets away. Heworth got off to a flyer when they came to bat scoring at 7 an over until the openers were parted after adding eighty odd. Two late wickets for a bonus point were little consulation for Percy who need to add a bit of nous to the batting particularly as the wickets are firming up.
