First Annual Sponsored Cycle Ride Bolton Abbey to Bolton Percy

The first annual sponsored cycle ride from Bolton Abbey to Bolton Percy took place on Sunday 17th July and was a huge success. Fifteen intrepid souls decided to make the journey to help raise funds for the proposed extension to the club pavilion.

The weather was wet which makes the efforts even greater. For some the vaseline was required, for others the journey was a piece of cake. first home was veteran cyclist Ian Russell who forsook a pit stop at the Oddfellows Arms in Sickilinghall and decided to keep going. Some say it was because he wanted to see the end of the Tour De France on the TV.

Others found the going a bit tougher.

All got back safely to BP and early indication are that a sizeable sum has been raised for the club. An absolutely brilliant Well Done to those who took part, to the back up crews and to Lesley Peter and Tom Atkinson who organised the event.

Lets all look forward to next years event Bolton town centre to Bolton Percy town centre.

Smiles as the scent of home nears and the ordeal is over!
