BP Under 11’s make it back to back wins

BP Under 11’s Gain Second victory against Heworth

Having lost captain James Tucker and his sister Jasmine that morning due to illness, BP were left two players down. Luckily for BP Duncan’s sister Wendy was able to play as she wasn’t playing for the under 9s. So BP went into the game with nine players against Heworth. Stand in Captain James Wilson won the toss and inserted the visitors, which proved to be a good decision because opening bowlers Duncan and James Davison got two wickets a piece and bowled very well, more tight bowling from the rest of the team put the pressure on Heworth and good death bowling from Wilson saw him collect three wickets. The fielding was good as well with Jack Petkus and Davison taking some good catches as well as Duncan getting a direct hit run out. Luke Miller also kept wicket very well on his first attempt. BP were set 238 to win, (for anyone that doesn’t know you start on 200 and lose five runs each wicket lost.) The message from assistant coach and senior pro Hodgey was “don’t get out and they will give you the runs in wides!” The innings began ok with Davison getting 2 and Petkus 7 but both lost a wicket each. Next James Bhanvra and James Murr both got a couple of runs each and lost one wicket between them. Next pair was Edward Mcvey and Wendy Robertson, with Edward hitting a nice four and Wendy blocking at the other end ensuring no wickets were lost, which there wasn’t in that pair, which was key. Miller then came in and joined by Petkus for two overs and both got some handy runs. The last two overs of the pair saw Wilson come in who finished on 8 and he was joined in the last pair with Duncan who got 4 and was again no wickets down, but there was some very good calling from Duncan to nick some quick singles which saw BP home to a great win.

Overall it was a very good overall performance from the whole team, hopefully we can do this again next week against the same opponents in the cup second round.
